Lemonade (Gesaffelstein Remix)
posted by: chopsticks

Hype y’all, get it started. The current golden boy of techno, Gesaffelstein, is remixing a track originally done as a joint effort between the current king of techno, Boys Noize, and the current prince, Erol Alkan. That’s right y’all, Lemonade (Gesaffelstein Remix). Feast your eyes and ears on Erol playing it.

Now, as with any track featuring such names on the bill, this tune’s getting mad buzz. Lots of different opinions on this one though, and I gotta say I like that producers are starting to go out on a limb focusing on what they wanna hear rather than what the masses wanna hear.

Boys Noize – The Creators Project Interview
posted by: chopsticks

Believe the hype. Boys Noize is probably my favorite producer/dj/person in the world right now, and no one can dispute that the guy is at the forefront of electronic music happenings. The dudes over at The Creators Project managed to catch up with Mr. Ridha in a pretty spectacular video interview as well as a textual one. Amazing insight into the life, production, and performance of one of the world’s top DJs, a definite must see. Check below for the interview and awesome video.

Sebastian – Embody
posted by: chopsticks

Ed Banger‘s resident prodigy, SebastiAn, has released his lead single from his upcoming LP, entitled Total and according to Busy Pedro is scheduled for release in May. The single is called Embody and is a holler back at straight up French house circa 2006. With a revival of the biggest names in electro from back in the day like MSTRKRFT, Justice, and now SebastiAn, it seems like the golden days are coming back in full force.

However, haters gonna hate, and people will criticize the apparent lack of progress in the Ed Banger camp, although I gotta say myself, I’m feeling this track. See and hear for yourself, official video below. Our homie, Chris Holmes, makes an appearance as the DJ getting danced on. I believe that’s Mickey Rourke in the tent, as well. Just kidding about Mickey, but it kind of looks like him, right?

Funky! Great vid as well, directed by Ed Banger artist So Me (dude behind the Barbra Streisand video from Duck Sauce). Fat Albert approves y’all.

Chris Brown – Look at Me Now

Now usually I don’t do this type of thing, but since I heard this tune I’ve obviously made an exception. Chris Brown‘s new (relatively? Last time I turned on my radio was in two thousand and late) single Look at Me Now features not only a mean-as-fuck amazing verse from Busta Rhymes (and a mediocre one from Lil Wayne) but more importantly an incredible beat from two of EDM’s biggest stars Diplo and the Grammy-winning Afrojack. Listen to it below, absolute fire! Great sign that EDM is slowly making its way into the mainstream.

So we all know Kanye, but do we know Gaspar Noé? Kanye’s come under a buncha heat recently for his All of the Lights video for stealing his concept from the French director’s 2009 film Enter the Void. (more…)

Take One: Swedish House Mafia
posted by: chopsticks

Swedish House Mafia is basically the biggest name in house music right now. The group is made up of Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Axwell. If you don’t know them already, these dudes are the 1972 Miami Dolphins of house music. Tiesto called them the rockstars of house, which is like having Oprah call you the emperor of being rich as hell. Earlier this year SHM released a massive hit track called One (I Wanna Know Your Name) featuring Pharrell:

You’ve probably heard this before, as I know most of the EF Records homies have been playing it out since the tune dropped a few months back (Congorock put out an insane remix of the track, as well). They’ve just released the trailer for their new documentary called Take One, set to drop later this month, giving a behind the scenes look at their lives as they steamroll across Europe an epic electronic music tour.

The documentary is being directed by Christian Larson, the same dude who co-directed Beyonce & Lady GaGa’s VMA-winning Telephone music video. The release of the documentary will also be accompanied by the debut full-length studio album from the trio entitled Until One set to drop sometime in October.
