Diplo is probably the motherfucker you wanna hear least about right now. He’s been ballin out since the early millenium and hasn’t stopped. Famous as fuck for the Major Lazer collab with Switch (of which a new LP is due very very soon), our boy Wesley Pentz has a new EP coming out for himself on his own Mad Decent label.

Track is in collaboration with fellow Mad Decent contract artist Hugo Douster. Planetary tribal techno beats with no shortage of bass, this tune is a slammer.

Get Rich or High Tryin’

We got some hot new tracks straight off the presses. No, that’s not Ewan MacGregor and Marlon Wayans starring in a retro remake of Men In Black, that’s Swedish production duo Savage Skulls. They’ve teamed up with the homie, Douster (King of Africa, anyone?), to release one of the dopest EP’s of the summer, Get Rich or High Tryin’.


Fifty: you don’t know shit! Douster is the real deal. Check that hat and tee combo, son! That shit’s from the past and the future at the same time. He just created a time paradox with his goddamn outfit.

Preview and pick up the new EP over at Mad Decent Records, and peep the bonus tracks with remixes by Crookers and J-Wow of Buraka Som Sistema. These tracks are already getting hype from DJ’s around the globe, and you’ll probably hear them played out all over the place–unless you’re at one of those shitty local clubs, where instead you’ll enjoying the latest uninspired top 40 bullshit. Have fun with that!

Oh, and if you want to hear some good music tonight, bop over to Torch and catch the homies, JeffET and MACHETE layin’ it down for Beach Boddin’ in Space.

King of Africa…’s daughter

So… CMNDer moved to LA this past weekend, and already this city has lived up to its reputation as a place for random run-ins, weird people, and unexpected connections.

I’ve just started to get my feet wet, beginning with the saturday afternoon Mad Decent summer block party downtown. I was able to get pretty close look at some acts that are definitely up there on my list; the likes of Theophilus London, Kid Sister, and Bosco Delray. Here’s a peak at some dubstep droppin’ late afternoon in the city (let me know if you have an id on this track):



Getting back to the title…I was at Turntable Lab LA yesterday (Electric Friends’ favorite place to shop), and ran into this South African girl:

I dont know how it came up, but it turns out her dad did the vocals for the Lion King theme song back in the 90′s!!! If you haven’t heard our favorite Electric Friends “bait and switch” track of spring 2010, then check out the crazy Douster remix here:
