After a few days of coastline driving, camping out, waterfalls, and celebrating freedom and America, we’re finally heading to our first party destination, Portland Oregon. We’re playing Bang-a-Rang at the Tube in Portland’s Chinatown tomorrow night from 10-2am. We’re getting buck, and if you’re in Portland we hope you come ^_^

Just finished a quick edit of Skrillex’s dubstep anthem, Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites. Its got an extended intro with a few added sounds and is super easy to mix. It also cuts between the OG and what I think is the best and maybe hardest remix of the track, the Dirtyphonics remix. It has a surprise breakdown in the middle where the double-time beat drops. Enjoy and mix well.

Mad Decent is getting full on behind Moombahton this summer. Dave Nada, Moombahton godfather, just put out the Blow your Head comp, dudes like Dillon Francis and Maluca are throwing around some heaters, and now Diplo just put out his Moombahton mix tape. It mashes everything from Ludachris to Beastie Boys to the Bangles with heavy MMBTN edits from Toddla T to Skrillex to DJ Ayres. Put it on and get yoself sunburnt.

It seems like DJs these days just keep getting younger and younger… (I wanted to punch myself when I found out that Afrojack is only 23). Also, Dolly Parton songs are creeping their way into more and more bootlegs these days. Just heard this track from 16 year old producer Dali Patrón from a small town in Estonia. Its called ‘Never Love Again’ and samples the song Dolly Parton’s Jolene.

Check it out, and keep an eye out this dude.

Propagator of the Sound Pellegrino label and lover of the echo effect, Teki Latex, has just released a limited edition collaboration cognac with famed Norwegian cognac maker Bache-Gabrielsen in conjunction with the Zodiac EP, which is somehow related. The EP features production from Bambounou and features remixes from Panteros666 and Das Glow. There’s also this nifty little promo video:

Personally, cognac really isn’t my deal but this is overall pretty dope. EP’s great as well. When you combine talents like Bambounou and Panteros666, the result can only be awesome. Peep the website for more info.

We’re all excited over Major Lazer‘s new album. Super hype. Next to no news about it so far, but we have been promised one thing: soon. The duo’s last mixtape Lazerproof with La Roux was superb, and this joint is looking like it’s gonna follow up in fine fashion.

Peep this video and watch as Diplo and Switch wrap up the finals days of production in Kingston, Jamaica. Previews of LP tracks are dispersed throughout, that last track with Amber Coffman (TIL: Amber Coffman is the lead singer of The Dirty Projectors) sound like it’s gonna be incredible, quite something like my favorite track from Lazerproof.

Best with: sun, Patron, and Elephant Man.

Hype y’all, get it started. The current golden boy of techno, Gesaffelstein, is remixing a track originally done as a joint effort between the current king of techno, Boys Noize, and the current prince, Erol Alkan. That’s right y’all, Lemonade (Gesaffelstein Remix). Feast your eyes and ears on Erol playing it.

Now, as with any track featuring such names on the bill, this tune’s getting mad buzz. Lots of different opinions on this one though, and I gotta say I like that producers are starting to go out on a limb focusing on what they wanna hear rather than what the masses wanna hear.

Skrillex aka Sonny Moore, former frontman for hardcore band From First To Last is coming out with a followup to his enormously popular 2010 breakout release Scary Monsters & Nice Sprites with another EP entitled More Monsters & Sprites. Check the preview out below. With the remix roster featuring a house artist or two, there’re some interesting tracks on this EP, along with more than a healthy serving of your weekly (or monthly if you’re like me) dose of filth & grime.
