Party flyer
All right guys, if you’re anything like me these last few weeks have been crazy. I’m talkin’ buyin’ presents, seein’ yer momma, and then hopefully comin’ home with a few presents yerself. I mean, it can almost be a little too much to handle on occasion. Its especially hard when you have homies come visit home from out of town. I mean, you just gotta get buck. And that’s what we’re gonna do.

Monday night at Torch EF homie CMNDer will be playing with me at Torch. We gonna get crazy ya’ll. Be prepared for booty shakin’ and make sure you brought home leftovers cause yer gonna burn some calories. Party starts at 10 and as always its free.

PS. Its back to LA for CMNDer after this week so make sure to come holler.
PPS. Its the last Monday before New Years… do it big.
PPPS. The homie, Fit for Use aka Drew Heffron will be spinning, as well! Get on it.

What… the.. fuh…?
posted by: machete

Apparently this is really happening. The Dim Mak blog cleverly chooses to use the phrase “music battle” rather than DJ battle, but I’m just really curious to see what’s up with this.

Red Bull Culture Clash Dim Mak Stones Throw

Knowing LA, a best case scenario for this show will be a shooting where the victim survives. Again, that’s a best case scenario. I’m gonna try and go, but I’m wearing a vest. And no, JeffET, not the Cosby vest.

I also stays inVESTed,

We’re getting down tonight at Social Wine Bar for their second annual Halloween lingerie party. Crystal Head Vodka is bringing the booze and the heat for this event, with both a Crystal Head skull ice luge (it lights up..) and body painted ladies.

CharlestonScene encourages you guys to “be honest. Dressing up for Halloween means dressing down, right down to your themed skivvies. So this Saturday night, chase your skinful sinfulness with another shot of skin.”

The party starts @ 8:00 PM.
Cover is 10 bucks.
Pro tip: show up before 10:00 and get in fo’ free!

Matthew Dear (aka Audion)
posted by: cmnder

Here in LA we’ve been getting more and more in to Matthew Dear recently. If you’re not familiar with him, hes a super talented dj, producer, experimental avant-pop artist singer, and dark techno producer. He’s got 4 monikers including his Audion, Jabberjaw, False, and of course his real name.

Matthew Dear

Inspired by Detroit techno in college he created the Ghostly International label in 1999 with college buddy Sam Valenti IV and since then has put out a number of chart toppers. His alias Audion has a harder, darker edge and has given us excellent tracks like “Billy Says Go.” As Matthew Dear he produces great tracks with his own vocals and softer remixes like my current favorite of Charlotte Gainsbourg. Check them out.

Charlotte Gainsbourg – Time of the Assassins (Matthew Dear Remix) by Hypetrak

His new Album “Black City” just came out and is worth a listen. If you’re in LA, don’t miss him on Nov 5th at Vanguard.

Kulture Klash 6
posted by: chopsticks

Just a reminder guys and gals, KK6 is literally just around the corner. Buy up your tickets, available at hot spots around town like 52.5 and Iron Lotus Tattoo Shop. $15 beforehand, $20 day of, which is Saturday. Get on it.

5 Minute Meltdown collaborators Joycette and K-Flo$$y are headlining, don’t miss it. There’ll also be enough art to kill two dozen Republicans there, along with plenty of food and drink and the coolest kids in town. Also, the super secret down-low rumor is that the C.P.O. Gents will have a surprise in store for all.

See you there.

South West Four
posted by: machete

The last weekend in August was a huge one with the UK’s equivalent of labor day weekend. The mid-city festival (think lollapalooza style) SOUTH WEST FOUR was insanity. The ridiculous Sunday line-up (check the flyer) managed to eclipse the brief weather issues as well as sound bleed from other stages.

Barring the 20 minute hurricane style downpour in the middle of Steve Aoki’s set (divine intervention?), the weather was incredible, the people were incredible, and the music was incredible. Obviously you always have sound issues at outdoor parties, but most-everything sounded good and went off without a hitch.

Check out the vid I snapped of Benga and Skream performing with Katy B on her new track ‘On a Mission’ -- which you literally cannot get away from in London -- followed by FATBOY SLIM?! Pshh, Yeah, Fatboy Slim going seizure status with Christopher Walken visuals, whats up.

Chopsticks is back from China
posted by: chopsticks

We’ve just recently landed back in the states from our eastern adventure just in time to take part in the premiere party-DJ-music-sweatfest celebration event of the summer, Home Grown. But before we were opening up for the best DJ’s in town, we were back in the orient knocking back tasty critters like scorpions and sea urchins. We were in Beijing and we hit up the Wangfujing snack street, famous for funky food and, well, really funky food. We took part in just about all the place had to offer (except the goat penis, we’re not about that!), take a look at some of the delicacies we sampled.

Chinese people love to get their street drink on. There’re tons of street vendors with kegs selling beer in plastic bags for literally pennies. Normally we conduct ourselves much more gentlemanly-like, but we just couldn’t help partaking. The equation: Irishmen—along with all manner of other ethnicities, $1 pitchers, no closing time, and locals. The outcome: Chopsticks gets right fucking pissed (Aussie for “wasted” ya’ll), arm wrestle the locals, and pee all over people’s apartments.

Photobucket

Contrary to popular belief, Chinese people can actually drive well. It’s like this because the rules don’t matter, the weak get weeded out via horrible head-on collisions before they get their cars outta park. So everybody left alive that’s still driving around is certified pro at driving like a mad-man but managing to stay alive at the same time. Take a look at this traffic incident, it’s the norm.

After finally managing to make it to Hong Kong, we immediately saw that the place is amazing! Air so crispy that Snap, Crackle, and Pop all quit their jobs, tropical mountains (what? yeah, really!) popping straight out of crystal clear water, amazing weather, and an amazing amount of international culture. Sadly due to our Beijing train-missing escapades, we were only there for a day and a half and were unable to take advantage of most of what the city had to offer, but we’ll most definitely be going back.

Photobucket

Now we’re back in town and ready to get back to business, look for us at our regular Friday night and around town supporting other EF Records members and local DJs.
