What’s Diplo Watching?
posted by: machete

trainspotting diplo?

Forgive me if you’ve already heard about this. Nevermind HOW I can across the ridiculousness that is Flickk.com, but apparently there’s an entire website dedicated to tracking movies mentioned on Twitter. What? Yeah. Ever wonder what your favorite DJ’s watching? No need to break your neck looking at his laptop: for Diplo’s feed, click here.

What if you weren’t talking about a movie and just happened to use the same phrase as a movie title, you ask? The site has no idea (for a hilarious example of this, see Diplo’s second tweet on the feed where he uses the phrase “The Switch,” clearly referring to his main homie, Switch, not the movie with Jennifer Aniston). Doesn’t that mean this site is basically useless, you ask? In a word, “yes.” But it’s funny/scary as hell. Why scary? Because it just drives home the fact that every stupid, drunken tweet you post is being logged by some dingbat somewhere with unknown intentions.

Don’t even get me started on Follow Fridays.

Trentemøller – electronic music at its most elegant, elaborate, and depressing
posted by: cmnder

If you dont know Trentemøller (Anders Trentemøller from Copenhagen), well, you should. He’s been producing for over a decade and done killer remixes for acts like Röyksopp, Depeche Mode, Booka Shade, and Franz Ferdinand to name a few. His style ranges from minimal to progressive house and has been described as melancholic and a ‘line between minimal techno and electro-tinged house (xlr8r)‘, composed of dark melodies and organic sounding vocals and chords.

Where a lot of artists pick up on trends and push certain sounds into their production that change with Trentemøller has stayed pretty true to his sound over the years, pushing it to a level of intensity and beauty that… if you’re down, well, it might make your cry… but if your pumped, you’ll lose your shit.

Here is Trentemøller’s latest release and really cool video by Adam Hashimi. Beatportal has some nice commentary on it.

Trentemøller doesn’t play a lot of shows, but when he does, it looks hot, sweaty, and epic.

Trentemoller’s relatively new mix album: “Harbour Boat Trips 01: Copenhagen”. Very good and interesting mix of tracks.

Download Moan, one of his classics HERE
