Officially Showing My Ass on the Internets
posted by: guest contributor

In reference to this post, I’ve promised to be honest about jawns I never heard before. Despite the fact that said promise was specifically limited to house music; I feel compelled to share a revelation with you, members of our sphere of internets influence: whenever you feel like you have any level of expertise or mastery in any field, remember to stay humble or something/someone will humble you. The point? I personally find both Pete Rock and the Notorious B.I.G. to be worthy of being mentioned very seriously in the “best ever” conversation. Needless to say, I’ve been a fan of both since elementary school (a long time for a dude in his late-mid-twenties); and yet I never heard this song until just now:

A couple months ago, I had a conversation with a friend--who’s opinion and taste I both value and respect--that got a bit emotional on my end. Without breaking the confidence of things said between gentlemen (Flatbroke was there as well, and I was acting as JeffET’s proxy); things got a bit heated on my end, because Ready to Die will always be one of my favorite albums ever. Some people have Sergeant Peppers, others have Kind of Blue (shouts to my dad), or even Otis Blue (and mom)… but since I was in 5th grade, I’ve listened to and loved Ready to Die. I doubt I’ve spent more time attentively and actively listening to the content and b-sides of any other album, and that is why I honestly can’t believe that I’ve never heard this version before.  Like I said in the post linked above, I try and stay humble…
