Teki Latex x Bache-Gabrielsen Limited Edition Cognac
posted by: chopsticks

Propagator of the Sound Pellegrino label and lover of the echo effect, Teki Latex, has just released a limited edition collaboration cognac with famed Norwegian cognac maker Bache-Gabrielsen in conjunction with the Zodiac EP, which is somehow related. The EP features production from Bambounou and features remixes from Panteros666 and Das Glow. There’s also this nifty little promo video:

Personally, cognac really isn’t my deal but this is overall pretty dope. EP’s great as well. When you combine talents like Bambounou and Panteros666, the result can only be awesome. Peep the website for more info.

In other related news, Teki Latex looks like a French Patton Oswalt.

We’re all excited over Major Lazer‘s new album. Super hype. Next to no news about it so far, but we have been promised one thing: soon. The duo’s last mixtape Lazerproof with La Roux was superb, and this joint is looking like it’s gonna follow up in fine fashion.

Felix Cartal & Keatch – Animals EP
posted by: chopsticks

Dim Mak‘s prodigy boy Felix Cartal is releasing a new joint EP with Keatch entitled Animals. After their very successful Solar/Lunar EP a few months back, this release is looking incredibly strong. Lazy Bird is very much the classic distorted-electro-banger and pulls it off well whereas Fish acts as the perfect B-side with a more interesting take on the same theme.

Peep both below. As previously mentioned, Lazy Bird is a bomb, but my personal favorite is Fish, which is absolutely great.

Felix Cartal & Keatch – Animals EP by Felix Cartal

Out “soon” on Dim Mak and Keatchen Records.

Duck Sauce – Coachella 2011 – New Tracks
posted by: chopsticks

Summer is almost here, and for me, last year’s kings of good vibes were definitely Duck Sauce. Now they’re set to release a new album sometime soon, and after weeks of post-Coachella hype a tracklist and a few clips of the new songs they played in their set have finally surfaced. Prepare for the funky house y’all, the summer of Barbra Streisand is back for round 2. Tracklist for their set at Coachellie went something like this (track names are guesses based on the vocal hooks and samples they used):

1. Duck Sauce intro
2. Duck Sauce – good 2 me
3. Uffie – Add Suv (Armand Van Helden Remix)
4. Duck Sauce – put the sauce on
5. Duck Sauce – lady bug (super psyched for this, love me some Bumblebee Unlimited)
6. Duck Sauce – barbra streisand
7. A-Trak – big bad wolf
8. Duck Sauce – bring the duck sauce
9. Duck Sauce – you’re nasty
10. Duck Sauce – radio
11. Duck Sauce – give it up
12. Duck Sauce – you’ve got to turn it on
13. Duck Sauce – aNYway

FOX’s Glee to perform Duck Sauce routine
posted by: chopsticks

Yeah, that’s right, your favorite filter house disco duo Duck Sauce hit their first national TV spot. Now, in general, I’m a pretty big hater when it comes to Glee (one look at the screenshot below should explain), but I’m a pretty big lover when it comes to Duck Sauce. More after the jump: (more…)

Lady Gaga – Judas vs. Buy Now – For Sale
posted by: chopsticks

A while back deadmau5 was beefing over The Black Eyed Peas copying his high-hat pattern in their track The Time (Dirty Bit). Chris Brown‘s Yeah X3 was criticized over sounding a lot like Calvin HarrisI’m Not Alone (reportedly causing Harris to experience a near-death incident when he heard C-Breezy’s track and choked on his corn flakes). Now, we got the biggest name in pop music in the world, Lady Gaga, ripping off six-year-old house riffs. The main melody hook from Gaga’s newest single, Judas, is pretty much exactly the same as the one from Sebastian Ingrosso and Steve Angello‘s, aka Buy Now (and aka 2/3 of Swedish House Mafia), 2005 track For Sale. On top of all this, we’ve got Beyonce belting out over Pon de Floor and calling it her own single (although she did give cred to Diplo for the production).

What can we learn from all this? That pop music ain’t nothing but last year’s (or last decade’s) electronic dance music. Check out both Gaga’s track and Angello & Ingrosso’s below and see for yourself.
