It doesn’t matter if you thought it could. It doesn’t matter if you thought it SHOULD. Moombahton is officially going to be a household name now that Diplo is putting out Blow Your Head Vol. 2 Dave Nada Presents Moombahton.
Summer is almost here, and for me, last year’s kings of good vibes were definitely Duck Sauce. Now they’re set to release a new album sometime soon, and after weeks of post-Coachella hype a tracklist and a few clips of the new songs they played in their set have finally surfaced. Prepare for the funky house y’all, the summer of Barbra Streisand is back for round 2. Tracklist for their set at Coachellie went something like this (track names are guesses based on the vocal hooks and samples they used):
1. Duck Sauce intro
2. Duck Sauce – good 2 me
3. Uffie – Add Suv (Armand Van Helden Remix)
4. Duck Sauce – put the sauce on
5. Duck Sauce – lady bug (super psyched for this, love me some Bumblebee Unlimited)
6. Duck Sauce – barbra streisand
7. A-Trak – big bad wolf
8. Duck Sauce – bring the duck sauce
9. Duck Sauce – you’re nasty
10. Duck Sauce – radio
11. Duck Sauce – give it up
12. Duck Sauce – you’ve got to turn it on
13. Duck Sauce – aNYway
Xavier de Rosnay, one-half of the extremely french electro duo Justice, talks about their new track “Civilization” and soon to follow album on Annie Mac Radio, describing it as “a record we just wanted to listen to and probably less [incomprehensible word] aggressive than the first record”.
Check out the interview and full length track below. Official release is scheduled for April 4.
Toronto-based producer Egyptrixx has just released one of 2011′s most anticipated debut LP’s (for both the label and the producer) on one of the new decade’s most forward-thinking labels: Bok Bok and L-vis 1990‘s UK based Nightslugs. This record is BIG, getting love from everything from dance music’s darling blogs like gottadancedirty, discobelle, and ResidentAdvisor, to the infamously polarizing Pitchfork (8.1 what??? They might’ve accidentally thought it was the new Animal Collective record).
Compilation of amazing tracks from some of EDM’s biggest names out Valentine’s Day on French powerhouse Ed Banger. I’ll let you look at the tracklist for yourself…(more…)
Louis Brodinski, otherwise known by just his surname, is the creator of club monsters like Arnold Classics and has collaborated with artists like Mumdance and Noob on big tracks like Eurostarr and Peanuts Club. He’s also worked with Yuksek as the superstar disco duo The Krays, one of the most hyped disco acts of the year. But his productions, while fabulous, aren’t really what this dude is famous for. He’s internationally known more for his taste in music and his spectacular DJ sets, a pretty goshdarned awesome thing to be famous for.

Oh joy. Just in time for Christmas, Radio 1 recorded Roska’s Essential Mix today, and it looks stellar. Roska is a producer from London who has been nominated for DJ Mag’s Best Brittish Producer 2010 against the likes of Four Tet, Simian Mobile Disco, Hot City, and Glimpse (click here for details and to vote). Here’s a preview of a track from his forthcoming EP just to give you a taste (like, like, like!):
Last Saturday MACHETE and I checked out Simian Mobile Disco at Hollywood mega-club Avalon. Our new homie and Avalon resident, Cody Lee, dropped a seemless tech-house set in the side room, and Simian Mobile brought an ear dismantling DJ performance with lots of lights and lots of bass. Definitely heavy on the techno, which for us is muy bueno.
On a side note, I still don’t get why the crowd is 90% Asian on at this place on Saturdays! I must conclude that the party is seriously goin’ down in China if 50 year old Chinese men are tripping out to techno at 3am in Hollywood… Next EF vacay: Beijing!
The duo recently released a new mixtape with (a couple of their own remixes!) called Is Fixed
One of my recent favorites by new star Pantha du Prince brings the end into some dreamy techno. Get on it.
