Diplo & Douster – On
posted by: chopsticks

diplo

Diplo is probably the motherfucker you wanna hear least about right now. He’s been ballin out since the early millenium and hasn’t stopped. Famous as fuck for the Major Lazer collab with Switch (of which a new LP is due very very soon), our boy Wesley Pentz has a new EP coming out for himself on his own Mad Decent label.

Track is in collaboration with fellow Mad Decent contract artist Hugo Douster. Planetary tribal techno beats with no shortage of bass, this tune is a slammer.

Pretty signature Diplo video, and a very hot track. Out for free download this Monday, stay tuned to @diplo & @hugodouster on twitter for the free steeze.

Chopsticks – Procrastination Mix
posted by: chopsticks

Lemme give y’all a rundown on what’s going on right now (as I type this post). It’s 4:48AM and I’m at the college library. Head buried in books? No no, even with two finals starting in about 3 hours, studying has yet to go down. Instead my adderall consumption has led me to focus my attentions on music rather than words, notes, definitions, theories, and other such bullshit. So, in honor of the great standard under which all student-kind unite, I present to you the fruits of my refusal to do anything productive in the form of a short little mix done 100% via mousepad.

Easy listening disco and house music with a few throwbacks, a few classics, and a few gems you won’t hear anywhere else. It’s officially summertime (well, for me in like 6 or 7 hours it is), and that means good vibes you guys. Tracklist will just be a secret for now, but if you really really wanna know holler and I might throw you a bone or two.

Brodinski’s Best of Everything Vol. 2
posted by: chopsticks

brodinski best of everything volume 2

Louis Brodinski, otherwise known by just his surname, is the creator of club monsters like Arnold Classics and has collaborated with artists like Mumdance and Noob on big tracks like Eurostarr and Peanuts Club. He’s also worked with Yuksek as the superstar disco duo The Krays, one of the most hyped disco acts of the year. But his productions, while fabulous, aren’t really what this dude is famous for. He’s internationally known more for his taste in music and his spectacular DJ sets, a pretty goshdarned awesome thing to be famous for.

M.I.A. is so weird. You have to love it. The countdown is over, and Vicki LEEKX was released today just in time for the New Year. I’m listening to it right now, and I’m hearing a lot of apocalyptic anti-money, anti-police, anti-technology angst. It really makes you wonder what her kid’s going to be like.

Cop this tape for free below and get ready to get weird:

You Got the Love – Florence and the Machine (Lee Mortimer 2011 Bootleg)

florence and the machine you got the love (lee mortimer 2011 bootleg)

Just saw @LeeMortimer tweet about this track, and had to check it out. How often do big ass DJs do bootlegs? Not that often, I’ll warrant. Especially a track that the XX totally destroyed back in ’09. I guess this is kind of a throwback now, but I personally love Florence and the Machine (#nohomo). This song needed a dance version, so thanks, Mr. Mortimer. I’ll post a link to d/load as soon as he officially releases it.

Had to share this nugget. It’s just brilliant, and I wish I’d thought of it:

Cassius, I Love you so from WE ARE FROM L.A on Vimeo.

Get the app here: Cassius iPhone App (before the Black Eyed Peas steal the idea!).

I’ve always been a huge fan of iPhone lips (this photo’s from a year ago! And those are Ollie’s huge ass lips in the pic, by the way):

Club Music – Brodinski’s Brick Bandits Import/Export Vol. 1
posted by: chopsticks

brodinski brick bandits vol 1

Club music. Loved by many, hated by many. Produced almost exclusively by use of samples like Lyn CollinsThink About It and Gaz‘s Sing Sing, club music like Baltimore club aka bmore club and Philly club, is intensely repetitive and almost everything has the same beat.

But there’s just something about the genre that starts fires, there’s no denying that. While bad bmore is shitty as can be, good bmore gets everybody’s ass shaking.

Nobody’s championed bmore on an international scale as much as Diplo, proprietor of Mad Decent. With artists like Blaqstarr signed to the label, Diplo’s house has the power to keep the genre alive and moving forward.

Step 1 is to open the ears of listeners across the globe, and it looks like they’ve done that with the Brick Bandits Import/Export series of mixes. The Brick Bandits is a collective of club producers including names DJ Sega and DJ Fresh (Gold Dust, ya’ll). Mad Decent’s recently put out a heat-filled 32 minute mix of the Brick Bandit’s tunes mixed perfectly by the people’s champ himself Brodinski.

a song is worth 1000 pictures

This mixtape by Manu Hendry has been on heavy rotation here at the EF Compound lately (click here for the track list). Everything from Steely Dan to Fleetwood Mac to Doobie Brothers. I recommend putting it on while you’re hanging out with your moms this holiday season.

LIFE AS A SPACE RAPSCALLION
posted by: guest contributor

robot candy company jeffet

I’m fittna put ya’ll up on somethin’ its Blue Planet: The Deep.  Have you ever wondered what happens deep down in the ocean? I mean really deep… we ain’t talkin’ bout “my feet can’t touch the bottom.” We talkin’ bout 900 meters (that’s 2,952.75591 feet) deep. The part of the ocean that’s so deep more people have been to space than have been this deep.  David Attenborough takes YOU there.  I mean, shit is crazy.  Anyway, watching this again got me thinking… maybe I should film a documentary. I’m still workin’ out the filmin’ and all but the soundtrack is done.  It’s called Le Gran Rapscallion’s Deep Space Sugar Rush: The Robot Candy Tape.

The Sugar Rush follows Le Gran Rapscallion (a young space pioneer) on his journey from his fantastic space station back to earth.  In true documentary fashion you see the beauty of space but also the “Oh shit! Who opened the airlock” moments… there’s even a spot where you get to come home to visit earth.  Either way, I hope you guys like it.

As a bonus I thought it would be awesome if you guys could experience Blue Planet and the Sugar Rush at the same time so I found it on the interwebz.  I recommend Blue Planet on mute and the Sugar Rush on 11 while eating some robot candy.  Here it is ya’ll!
Ps. There’s a tracklisting easter egg.
