Party Dad aka(Tay McNabb)

Tay McNabb's crate digging career started at age ten when he was allowed free reign over his dad's massive collection of over 1000 records for the very first time. With absolutely no guidance or idea what to expect, Tay began picking out albums and playing them for himself. One his favorite moments, says McNabb, was discovering the Beatles (having never heard of them) when the cover of Sergeant Pepper caught his eye.

Keeping every record he's owned from childhood, Tay has amassed a collection of everything from children's sing-a-longs to 90s gangster rap and IDM. Oh, and heaps of disco.

Tay dropped out of college. The main reason he cites is that he couldn't seem to keep himself from sneaking into the campus radio station and using their sound equipment to make mixtapes for friends instead of going to class. Since 2005, Tay has been writing music and performing both solo and with friends under the monicker Castles Underground. He also created a podcast called "Somebody Come and Play!", centered around sharing rare music finds and info on upcoming local shows. Tay grew up during what he calls the Golden Age of 96 WAVE in Charleston, and has always been a tenacious sharer of music. His method of discovering new music has not changed much since he was ten: Tay listens to anything and everything, and if it's good, he's going to let you know about it. Possibly during his DJ sets.

Party Dad generally spins all-vinyl dance sets of disco, funk, soul, and EDM. His performances are like Studio 54 meets summer camp on acid. Look out for his disco edits coming soon on Electric Friends Records.

Influences: Tom Saverese, Todd Terje, Toro y Moi.
