Get Buck

Filed under: Beach Boddin', Show Recap — Tags: , — machete @ 4:50 pm

Last Beach Boddin’, we had our homie, Buckmaster, in the house from Charlotte. Besides being a tall drink of water as my dear old man used to say, the boy sure can DJ. Everybody got buck, and the bar was utilized for activities other than just serving drinks.

Everyone’s favorite part of the Buckmaster set had to be when he slowed things down to drop a short Moombahton set before speeding back up and dropping his own remix of “Funeral” by Band of Horses.

Here’s a little Moombahton for those not familiar with the genre (Dave Nada is credited with inventing the sound):

RUFFCUT – MOOMBAHTON DUB by T&ARecords

It definitely reminds me of reggaeton, but thankfully less repetitive with dope samples from, well, everything from dutch house to electro. No telling how much longer the craze will last, but basically, the world’s best DJs seem to be slipping a little moombahton into their sets.

Here’s what happened at Beach Boddin’ with Buckmaster (all photos courtesy of our own paparazzi, Jasper B.):

Guess who’s coming back?

JeffET and the magical trip to the boonies.

Filed under: Beach Boddin' — Tags: — cmnder @ 8:27 pm

So, this weekend, I’m off to Stoney Creek, Virginia for a family reunion. I’m sure you guys haven’t heard of it but its apparently about 14 miles from Petersburg (which is supposedly a big deal, who knew?). I mean, its so middle of nowhere, I don’t even have a 3g signal y’all. I mean, all this lack of signal is makin’ me miss you guys. Thus, we’re about to do it real big. This week is gonna be so big I thought about calling in Manny Fresh just for kicks…
First off, Monday its time to show off all that Beach Boddin’ you’ve been doing with me, Mr. CMNDer, and MACHETE at Torch. For those of you that don’t know, this is gonna be the last time Matthew plays Torch before moving to LA. Thus, we gonna have a beach theme (ladies, bring them bikinis out one last time and shake). Music starts at 10. As a bonus, we’re gonna be giving out invites to the super, secret, invite only, final Electric Friends show before Nick and Matt move (hint: its a warehouse party thats going all night y’all).
That’s the plan. This secret party is gonna be amazing. Holla at us to get it done.

Lastly, watch this video to get hype for the next few days.

See ya Monday!

A Key that opens many locks.

A wise man told me earlier today that a key which can open many locks is special. A lock that can be opened by many keys is a shitty lock.

That wise man’s name was Johnny Love, opener of many locks, proprietor of wisdom, inevitable Magic: the Gathering beatdowns, and electronic rave music from hell. We’ll be playing a show with Johnny Love tonight at Torch @ 10PM: $3 cover. Johnny just relocated to Charlotte, NC, which will hopefully be great for the electronic music scene there. I’m personally happy to have a fellow guido that makes electronic music in the area.

Speaking of guidos that make electronic music, have you heard of Jack Lomo? Well, if you haven’t: it’s time. Jack Lomo is on Crack House Records (yes!) and is heavy as hell. He just released the EP “I Womma Weed” two weeks ago, and I definitely saw JFK of MSTRKRFT fame bragging about some remix of this track (which is super excellent) on Twitter the other day. Check it out, and get hype:

This Monday at Torch, we have a very special guest. You may recognize him from the Kitsuné and TROUBLE & BASS labels and from the very successful duo Guns ‘N’ Bombs.

Here’s a link to the Facebook event: click me! Then click “Attending” and then tell all your friends! It’s not often Charleston gets dope ass, world famous DJs.

Here’s a new track by Deathface: it’s a remix of a classic (well, I definitely think it’s a goddam classic, anyway!!). Enjoy.
